Road bike tour around Lake Constance

6 days / 5 nights – self-guided

Lake Constance is a beautiful and famous lake situated between Germany, Austria and Switzerland. There is a wonderful cycle path around the lake but for the road cycle tour, we have chosen itineraries into the inland as well. Many times the trail will be flat but there are demanding ascents to pass if you choose to cycle into the Swiss mountains. You will meet lovely small cities near the lake and many attractions are along the route like the famous Rhine waterfalls in Schaffhausen. Depending on the season, you will pass vineyards and fruit orchards in full bloom or see the Alps with it snow. Highlights of the tour are also the islands on the lake like Mainau with a castle and flower gardens.

  • Lake Constance

  • Cycling through 3 countries: Switzerland, Austria and Germany

  • The beautiful towns and spots along the lake: Bregenz, Salem, Mainua island, the waterfalls of the Rhine

  • The Swiss Alps

Day 1

Arrival in Bregenz

During the Festival, the city of arrival could be Dornbirn, Höchst or Wolfurth, according to availability! The town has interesting historical buildings like the Martinsturm dating back to 1601. The charming Deuringschlössle and the Altes Rathaus from 1662 are also worth a visit. The Kaiserstraße is a nice shopping street with many restaurants, shops and terraces.

Afterwards you keep following the cycle trail to the second island "Mainau" with the castle and wonderful gardens.
