Naples and the Amalfi Coast boast centuries of rich and fascinating history: long before the construction of the Baroque Palaces and the Churches of Spacca Napoli, these lands belonged first to the Greeks and then to the Ancient Romans. All the greatest artists were attracted by the charm of Naples, from the early ages to the Romantic era. Since the ancient Neapolis, founded by the Greeks, to the immense splendor of the Baroque era, the city and the surrounded area have fascinated millions of visitors, who loved its artistic treasures, as well as its lovely climate and the beauty of the nature all around. The ancient Romans certainly were not wrong when they w chose Ercolano and Baia as privileged destinations of their holidays. Don’t forget the Vesuvius, the great volcano, whose historic eruption of 79 AD has given us precious Roman remains, buried under the ashes of Pompeii. Further south we find Amalfi, which had its maximum splendor from the 10th to the 11th century, when it became the first Maritime Republic in Italy, playing a great role in the commerce with the East. Therefore, we invite you to discover and many other paths of the Amalfi Coast, from Ravello to Positano, the Valle dei Mulini, the Canyon di Furore and the "Sentiero degli Dei, without forgetting the two sunny islands, jewels of the Gulf of Naples, Procida and Capri.

Program 8 day tour

Day 1

Arrival in Naples. 

Individual arrival in the city of Naples. Naples is one of the biggest and most enchanting art cities of the Mediterranean. The city dominates the Gulf of Naples, which extends from the Sorrento peninsula to the volcanic area of the Campi Flegrei and offers a very evocative view, with the imposing volcano Vesuvius and, far away, three magnificent islands - Capri, Ischia and Procida. In addition to its beautiful landscapes, Naples owes its well-deserved fame to the charm of its historic center, which tells 2500 years of history and is part of the World Heritage List of UNESCO since 1995.


Day 2

Transfer with Circumvesuviana train  to Herculaneum (Ercolano)

After a transfer with the Circumvesuviana you will start walking on the Vesuvius: you will take a bus for the first stretch and then continue on foot, climbing to the Vesuvius and enjoying the wonderful view over the Gulf of Naples. The Vesuvio is an explosive volcano among the most famous in the world and is considered as one of the most representative symbols of the city of Naples. In the afternoon, you will visit the archeological site of Ercolano, buried together with Pompeii following the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. Return to Naples with the Circumvesuviana.

Walking time 1 hour / difference in level: + 200m - 200m


Day 3

Visit of Capri

Today a lovely boat trip to the island of Capri. The island has a deep and rugged coastline, crowned by the famous faraglioni, big and original rocky cliffs, and from countless caves with evocative games of light. Among these, the most famous is the blue cave (Grotta Azzurra), closely linked to the tourist history of Capri, a myth that resists over time and continues to be a favourite destination for travellers and the international jet set. They meet in the famous piazzetta (little square), theatre of the dolce vita of the island. From Marina Grande you start hiking towards the Hermitage of Santa Maria a Cetrella, crossing the Passetiello, a narrow passage between beautiful rock faces, overlooking the town of Capri.  Possibility of bathing. Back to Naples and overnight in Hotel 4 *. 

Walking time 2 hours and 30 minutes / difference in level: + 500m - 500m


Day 4

Visit of Pompei            

Today you will take the Circumvesuviana to Pompei, to visit the site and the Villa of the Mysteries. Pompei it is the largest open air archaeological site in the world. A unique and extraordinary example of what life was like in the past, that the great eruption of Mount Vesuvius of 79 AD fixed forever under lava and ashes, burying the inhabitants of Pompeii during their daily activities. In the afternoon, private transfer to Amalfi to reach the plateau of Agerola and your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Agerola, hotel 3 *.  


Day 5 


You start your day with a nice walk from Bomerano, downhill towards the fishermen’s harbor  of Marina di Praiano. Follow the path of the Bloomed Agaves, always with a splendid view of the turquoise sea. From Marina di Praiano, take a local bus to Amalfi, the most powerful maritime republic at the end of the 10th century;  possibility to visit the cloister of the Paradise, the church and the museum of paper (possibility of bathing). Back to Agerola by local bus. Dinner and overnight in Agerola, hotel 3*.

Walking time 2 hours / difference in level + 0 m – 650 m


Day 6  


After breakfast, take a local bus to Amalfi. Here, your walk starts, leading you to the discovery of the “Valle dei Mulini” (mills valley), along the path still used by mules to transport wood. The valley takes its name from the mills of the area used for the production of pasta. You continue hiking up to Ravello, with the Cathedral dedicated to San Pantaleone. Optional visit of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo, characterised by a variety of styles: Arabic, Sicilian and Norman and source of inspiration for Wagner.  Return on foot through Atrani (possibility of bathing) up to Amalfi. Back to Agerola by local bus. Dinner and overnight stay in Agerola, hotel 3*.

Walking time 3 hours 30 minutes / difference in level + 200 m – 400 m


Day 7

Path of Gods and Positano

After breakfast, transfer by local bus to Agerola. From here you will start an excursion with great views along the so called Path of Gods (sentiero degli Dei), which was, up to the 19th century, the only way to get from the small isolated villages to the tiny terraced fields and vineyards.  After Montepertuso, you descend to Positano. The colorful houses of Positano have been built in amphitheatre shape, overlooking the sea, giving a unique and picturesque aspect to the village. Free time to explore Positano (possibility of bathing). Return to Amalfi by local bus or ferry boat and then by local bus to Agerola. Dinner in hotel in Agerola.

Walking time 4 hours and 30 minutes / difference in level: + 100m - 650m  


Day 8


After breakfast, at around 9 a.m., transfer to Naples airport/railway station/downtown

Every Saturday all the year round (it is not possible to book the deluxe version from November to March 14th because the 4 star hotel in Minori is closed. Upon request it is possible to book in a Roman Villa with supplement).

Level 2

For walkers with some experience. Country roads and easy paths, steps, some steep descents, steps on the Amalfi Coast on day 5,6 and 7. It is better to have some hiking experience or some training. Not recommended for people with fear of heights. Altitude varies from 0 to 650 metres The walks are note long so their remain enough time to visit cultural interesting sights and enjoy the sea.
