 This walking holiday starts in the village of San Vito lo Capo, on Sicily’s north coastline. The town is situated adjacent to one of Italy’s most precious coastal national reserves, the Zingaro Nature Reserve. Another stop is Marettimo, the most mountainous island of the three so-called Egadi Islands, a real paradise for walkers: cliff paths winding through Spanish broom and purple cistus, a Saracen fortresses, Roman villas and coral lined sea grottoes. You will visit Segesta and its important and magnificent temple and theatre. This walking tour ends with two overnight stays in Trapani, a town full of history and culture. Very beautiful is the baroque centre. From here you will have the possibility to visit Erice, built on the top of Mount Erice (750m a.s.l.) overlooking Trapani, the Aegadian Islands and the salt marshes. A final enchanting walk is made in the Reserve of Monte Cofano.





Day 1 

San Vito lo Capo

Your tour begins in San Vito lo Capo, an old fish village on the sea, a remarkably scenic spot for a swim. The village has a beautiful beach You will find small cosy coffee bars and small shops with local ceramics. You stay outside town in a B&B with a stunning view on the sea and on the nature reserve Zingaro. Overnight stay with dinner.


Day 2 


The nature reserve Zingaro

Your excursion of today will be in the Zingaro Nature Reserve, a 7 km strip of unspoilt coast and soaring mountains, where a beautiful and suggestive walk will take you along trails amongst a typical Mediterranean flora. There are many small paths drawn on the precipices, ending in the sea or climbing up mountains. The Zingaro reserve houses more then 25 orchid species. It will be a day with astonishing views and you will have the enough time to have a swim in one of the small bays. Overnight stay with dinner.

Walking time: 6 hrs; ascent & descent: +500m -500m 


Day 3   



Scopello - Segesta - Marettimo

This day is dedicated to the discovery of the incredible archeologic site of Segesta, with its magnificent theatre at the northern slopes of Monte Barbaro and the temple, whose imposing appearance bestows great nobility on the landscape. A transfer will drive you to Trapani, where you will take the hydrofoil to the island of Marettimo, the second biggest island of the archipelago of the Egadi, known for its natural beauties. The tour will lead you to Punta Troia, with the remains of an ancient castle dating back to the 17th century. From here you will have a wonderful view of the other Egadi islands and you can enjoy the sandy beaches of the island.

Walking time: 2 hrs; ascent & descent +290m -430m  


Day 4 


Marettimo - Levanzo  

Free day on the beautiful beach of Marettimo or an excursion to the island of Levanzo, the smallest and perhaps most picturesque of the three Aegadian islands. It is a steep, rugged and tranquil island. It’s a short crossing to Levanzo where a coastal path bright with lilac scabious leads past deserted stone farm houses and olive trees to the Grotta del Genovese with Neolithic cave paintings and Palaeolithic graffito's.

Walking time; 4 ˝ hrs; ascent & descent + 450m – 450m


Day 5 




Today you walk to Pizzo Falcone the island's highest summit, from which you will be treated to a breathtaking view of the entire archipelago. The walk passes a fortress of the Roman Age and a little church of the Byzantine period before reaching the a panoramic point. The ones who like to discovering the island from all its sides could make a short tour by boat around the island to see the impressive unapproachable coastline. 

Walking time: 6 hrs; ascent & descent: + 689m– 689m  


Day 6 

Marettimo – Trapani

After breakfast, you leave the island by hydrofoil and reach Trapani, a lively city with evocative walking paths and some lovely churches and baroque buildings. Optional excursion to the medieval town of Erice, where you can admire the church and its small alleys with famous bakeries and unforgettable almond cakes. Overnight in the Trapani area.


Day 7   


Monte Cofano Reserve  

Today an excursion to the “Cofano Natural Reserve”, strikingly beautiful for its coastline, its meadows, stretches of dwarf palms and for its rich variety of wildlife which includes the peregrine falcon. You can visit the splendid watchtowers, considered in the past as the only means of defence against pirate attacks and nowadays part of the historical heritage. Mount Cofano is 659m high. A coastal path goes up to summit where you will have a breathtaking view 

Walking time: 4 hrs ascent & descent: + 350m – 350m

Departure after breakfast
