The selected itineraries will allow you to admire a breathtaking landscape, which will always be in your memories. You will spend the first night in Lisbon and you will taste and breathe its special atmosphere. You will explore its surroundings, such as Alfama and Bairro Alto.Lisbon and Sagres are the points of departure and arrival of your tour, the main cities of this trip, discovering the most authentic Portugal. On day 4 you will cross the estuary of the Sado River by ferry-boat, formed more than 5,000 years ago, today a natural reserve with more than 221 species of birds and usually there are also dolphins. Moreover, you will cross the natural park of Arrábida, a bio-energetic reserve with Mediterranean vegetation, thanks to its Mediterranean climate, very similar to Adriatic regions, such as Dalmatia. On your last three days, you will enjoy the south-western natural park of Alentejo and Costa Vicentina, where there is an interesting combination of Mediterranean, North-Atlantic and African vegetation: there are over 750 varieties and 100 of them are rare, localized or endemic: 12 are unique in the world (they only grow here). Beautiful beaches, villages and picturesque little cities, delicious food and wine, friendly people…these are just some of the special features of this tour.

Before you start the first stretch of your cycle tour, we recommend to visit the places of interest of Lisbon, like Alfama, the most typical district of Lisbon, from where you will enjoy spectacular views and where you will taste the history, culture and traditions of the ancient city. Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal. A charming land rich of history. Its inhabitants are the descendants of the sailors who sailed the Portuguese Seas.

You will leave Lisbon in the Belém district and you will admire its architecture, museums, monuments, gardens, enjoy its restaurants and cafés; we recommend to taste the pastéis de Belém – the world’s famous egg tart pastries of Lisbon. A full day in the nature, an adventurous day, with many things to see and emotions to feel: you will get to Setúbal through the Natural park of Arrabida, on the Norther shores of river Sado. You will cross the Arrábida hills, and we recommend not to miss two very famous beaches of this natural park - Portinho da Arrábida and Figueirinhais – and / or to enjoy the wonderful view of the two beaches from the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Arrábida.Your overnight stay is in Setúbal, a city with many places of interest. We recommend to visit the fish market of Livramento, awarded as one of the most important and famous fish markets in the world in 2015.

Day 4

From Setúbal to Sines (76 km / 47 miles)

Today’s stretch starts with a ferry-boat crossing on the estuary of River Sado, where you will be most likely welcomed by its resident population, bottlenose dolphins. A very rare phenomenon in the world, unique in Portugal. The area is biologically very rich and counts more than 250 bird species you will see during the river crossing. Today you will admire dunes, beaches, rural areas, typical villages and rice fields under cultivation. You are in the Alentejo, a surprising, mostly flat region: plains full of wildflowers, sunflowers, vineyards and admirable beaches with crystalline waters and endless sandy areas. Some of these beaches are among the best ones in the country. The Alentejo villages are characterized by white houses and cities with a great charm and rich history. Once off the ferryboat, you will cycle through the peninsula of Troia with wonderful beaches and the beautiful landscape of the Arrábida Hills. On the way Sines, you will have a chance to visit Roman ruins dating back to the 1st century. Your overnight stay is in Sines, the biggest and most important harbour of Portugal.

Today is the first day in the south-western natural park of Alentejo and Costa Vicentina. This day is rich of spectacular views of the Atlantic ocean, passing by beautiful beaches and small fishermen’s villages. Admiring sunset from Portinho do Canal is an experience you will never forget !

Day 6

Second day in the natural park of Costa Vicentina, enjoying the tranquillity of nature and admiring diverse and unique species of animals and plants in a fairytale landscape, dotted by high cliffs hiding sandy dunes and coves. You will reach Aljezur, a small village on the coast with houses featuring the typical rural architecture from Algarve. On the top of a hill, a castle dominates and incredible row of houses forming a sort of cascade, witnessing the historic past of the area.

Day 7

From Aljezur to Sagres (63 km / 39 miles)

Last stretch by bike in the region of Algarve. Wonderful day you will fully enjoy…there are many good reasons to do it. Sagres is one of the most important places in Algarve for its heritage, extraordinary and rich (fortresses, castles, ancient menhirs.) It is a historic place of great significance, where important historic events, histories and legends have taken place. The high cliffs arise vertically from the Atlantic ocean and reach a height of 75 metres. Marine flora and fauna are very rich.
